Nodes in Cognitive radio networks can change their communication frequency actively, which affects networks topology and routing. In this paper, a joint routing and spectrum assignment scheme for cognitive radio networks is proposed that assigns spectrum bands during on-demand routing. Simulation results show that, in the scenario of cognitive radio networks that have multiple data flows, this scheme provides better adaptability and incurs much lower cumulative delay when comparing to other routing approaches.
